High Speed Steel (HSS) – Product Overview

Material Description:
High Speed Steel (HSS) is a group of tool steels known for their ability to retain hardness and strength at elevated temperatures. It is primarily used in cutting tools such as drills, taps, milling cutters, and saw blades. The material’s unique property to maintain a sharp cutting edge under high-speed and high-friction conditions gives it its name. HSS is typically alloyed with elements such as tungsten, molybdenum, chromium, vanadium, and cobalt to enhance hardness, wear resistance, and red hardness (hot hardness).

Types of High Speed Steels:

  1. T-Series (Tungsten-Based):
Contains tungsten as the major alloying element. Offers excellent red hardness and wear resistance.
