A high strength 4 to 5% Copper alloy produced in extruded bar and profile form, in the fully heat-treated condition (solution heat-treated & artificially aged)normally stocked in the T6511 condition (stress relieved by controlled stretching) Except for sizes under 10mm diameter and over 203.2mm diameter. (T6 only). Over 203.mm diameter is manufactured to chemical composition Only.
Machinability of aluminium alloy 2014A is very good.
Typical applications of aluminum alloy 2014A are high strength components especially for use in the aerospace and defence industries.
This datasheet relates to temper T6511. The most common temper for aluminium alloy 2014A are:
- T6 - Solution heat treated and artificially aged
- T3 - Solution heat treated, cold worked and naturally aged
- T6511 - Solution heat treated and stress-relieved by stretching then artificially aged with minor straightening after aging - Equivalent to T4 condition
Round Bar is stocked in the range 1/2inch to 10inch diameter.
Plate is stokced in thicknesses 1/2inch to 4 inch.

Alloy 2024 is an alclad sheet in the T3 temper. It was the first Al-Cu-Mg alloy to have a yield strength approaching 50,000-psi and generally replaced 2017-T4 (Duralumin) as the predominant 2XXX series aircraft alloy. With its relatively good fatigue resistance, especially in thick plate forms, aluminum alloy 2024 continues to be specified for many aerospace structural applications. 2024 varient alloys, such as higher purity 2124 and 2324, with improvements in strength and other specific characteristics, have also found application in critical aircraft structures. An improved sheet alloy for fuselage applications was introduced in 1991. Alclad C188 offers
improved fracture toughness and fatigue crack growth while maintaining the strength characteristics of 2024.
Aluminium Alloy 2024 is available in bare and alclad sheet and plate product forms in the annealed state and several tempers of T3, T4, and T8 types

- Annealing:Solution annealing is done at 1000 F for adequate time to allow thorough heating, followed by a cold water quench
- Hardening: This alloy is hardened (strengthened) by an aging Heat treatment: By controlled cold working from the solution annealed condition

Product Description:
6061 T-6 is a precipitation hardening aluminum alloy containing magnesium and silicon as its major alloying elements. 6061 has good machinability and good weldability. Typically, after welding, the properties near the weld are those of 6061-0, a loss of strength of around 80%. The material can be re-heat-treated to restore -T4 or -T6 temper for the whole piece. After welding, the material can naturally age and restore some of its strength. 6061 is one of the most common alloys of aluminum for general purpose use. It is commonly used for the construction of aircraft structures, such as wings and fuselages, bicycle frames, boat building and a wide range of automotive parts.
6061 T6 Aluminum is a heat treatable 6000 series aluminum alloy with magnesium and silicon as its main alloying elements. It is one of the most versatile alloys and offers a wide range of mechanical properties. With medium to high strength, good toughness and a good surface finish, it maintains most of the good qualities of aluminum. Welded by all methods and can be furnace brazed. T6 has an ultimate tensile strength of at least 42,000 psi, yield strength of at least 35,000 psi and ultimate shear strength of 27,000 psi. In ¼” thickness, it has an 8% elongation and 10% in thicker sections. 6061 T6 aluminum is commonly used for a wide range of products and applications including fishing reels, truck frames, structural components, machine parts, aircraft and aerospace components, marine fittings, camera lenses, transport, valves, couplings, etc.
